What Food Is Good For Our Body?
The word “food” is used broadly in human language to refer to any living being that can be consumed to sustain life. In the broad sense, food refers to any material food that an organism consumes to give nutrition to organisms. Food is generally of animal, plant or fungi origin, and comprises necessary nutrients, including vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates, and minerals. Food habits differ among different people and between cultures. Therefore, it is very important to determine the nutritional requirements of a particular species before choosing a diet.
Plants store food energy and other nutrients in cells as food stores. These food energy sources are absorbed by the plants and used to give growth and support. Animals produce food energy from fats, seeds, roots, and cereals. Fishes eat vegetable and animal matter and may also eat small insects and other forms of food. Animal foods, such as meat, provide all the nourishment a living thing’s needs.
The majority of foods that are consumed contain four major components: carbohydrates, protein, fat, and water. The first component, carbohydrate, is found in starches and vegetables and plays a vital role in ensuring the existence of the body’s cells. Protein is the main element in animal foods, which are mainly protein-rich meats, dairy products, fish, poultry, and other animal proteins. Fat is commonly found in beef, pork, processed meats, sausages, oils, eggs, and other fats. Water serves as a solvent in many foods, but is also an excretory organ of the body responsible for waste removal.
