Stop Gambling – Is Gambling an Addiction?

Gambling is basically the act of betting something of worth on an uncertain occasion with the objective of winning some other thing of equal or more value. Gambling, therefore requires three components for it to occur: risk, consideration, and a win. If one can clearly define these three components and how they relate to gambling, then one is well on his way to mastering the art of gambling. This is because there are no definite principles or rules on how to gamble. So, in order to win at any type of gambling, one would need to study the different techniques that different gamblers use in order to win.


In the United States, gambling has been around since the time of the early settlers. Gambling was not seen as an evil practice back then and some Native American tribes even considered gambling to be a necessary evil. However, as time passed, gambling has become an activity that is widely accepted by most Americans. There are a lot of different kinds of gambling that one may engage in. A lotteries, raffles, lotteries, bingo, progressive slot machines, video poker machines, roulette, blackjack, keno, and poker are just some of the many kinds of gambling that are found in casinos today.

It is a good idea to remember that regardless of how you personally feel about gambling, it is still gambling and therefore should be dealt with accordingly. Addiction is not easy to beat and if you are truly serious about beating an addiction, then the first step you need to take is to determine why you became addicted in the first place. Gambling can be a very entertaining and exciting hobby; however, it is still a vice and like all vices, should be dealt with accordingly.
